Have You Been Double Crossed Today?

Houdini

A friend once said he gave up drinking by throwing in the towel one thread at a time. Anyone who has ever had to do something new may now smile.

By nature I am a private person. I become even more solitary during the start of the winter season.

Simply put, I no longer publicly do December. Forty seven years it has taken me, but I give up; I’m sorry, but after nearly half a decade I’ve given up, one thread at a time.

I shall see you sometime in January where I hope a renewed sense of joy, and wonder may fill our lives.

Until then…

Don’t worry about it chief. I don’t do December or Christmas either. Last year I spent Christmas taking paint off my bedroom door. It was an excuse not to go anywhere. The door is still half finished, but at least I avoided having to socialise with people that I normally wouldn’t socialise with.

Dude, I wish I could join you. My Xmas won’t be as bad as yours have been but it’ll be bad enough.

Still, here’s hoping the new year will bring you joy.

When you pop up next year, look to your immediate left.

That’s where I’ll be waiting.

I’ll have coffee. Decaff.

Love,
Joseph

Solitude. How I miss that open space where the masks become thin. Savor yours, Father Luke.

Not a fan of the winter. Not because it gets cold here (it never does), but because it reminds me somehow of all the downs from the year and life in general.

Until i get sick of it, and start a new year in hopes to live something different.

Here’s to hoping you get sick of whatever’s on your back friend.
