Everyone is a drifter. Even me. And among the faithful, too.

Faithful to what?

Well, to ourselves, to myself, and the difference anyone can make in their own life.

It's all another day. And today is as old as this moment.

I live in Portland, Oregon now.
I like it more than Santa Cruz.

I do.

I love my life.
All fifty one years of it,
and what may be left.

And thanks.

things change and they don't, huh?

i am in the same physical space, a different physical place and older. so much older.

i bumped into you about 6 years ago, you were living in a town with a santa in it? (my memory is... well, older too) near the coast i think. i spent a couple years in a small beach town, it was good for my soul. the sound of the waves filled my head and pushed out a lot of loose stuff.

i bounced around the forum and the blawg, saw i was a drifter. i probably will remain that, a drifter, but it's good to bump into ya again.

nice site, by the way.

In 2010 I was awarded $200 in food stamps, something called an EBT card,
which is used like a credit card, worth up to, in my case, $200.

So, paid income for 2010 was:

$200 - Food Stamps
x12 - Months in the year

I got paid $8,831.28 by the State of Oregon to take care of children:

$11231.28 - Income before taxes for 2010

I got paid directly from the State, I have to pay my own taxes, etc.
Taxes are looking like about $600 - $800

$10531.28 - Income after taxes for 2010

There it is.

This is just a place holder for 2011. But I have to tell you? I didn't do well.

Stay tuned.

Mostly it's just you. And me. There are a few who linger, and lurk, but don't participate.
The good stuff will be in 2010 - - as a subscriber you'll be able to see that.

I've been encouraged to write memoirs. I won't get into the up side -- the pluses -- or the minuses -- the down side. But the thought has intrigued me. I've written lots of glimpses into my life for years now, mostly in short form or poetry. A longer form of writing has been calling to me, and as with a lot of things many are called but few are chosen.

When I began writing poetry I wrote mostly for myself. It was my voice I wanted to hear, my point of view. I wrote to find out what I had to say, not because I had something to say. In writing I heard my voice, myself, and my point of view loudly and clearly. Writing memoirs seems like a logical progression form the blinks I've allowed into my life.

The working title for my first collection of memoirs I'm using:

Glances in the rear view mirror

Maybe that will change, maybe I'll keep it. We'll see what happens.

If you're checking in here, you'll be catching some of the rough drafts I write.
Most of my drafts will be hidden, and available only for my subscribers.

I guess that's it.
And thanks.

Pretty much it's just me. And I'm doing well. I'm kind of in a slump just now as I am transitioning from one phase of my life to the next. This transition includes life changes due to relationship stresses, aging, switching housing situations, employment changes... pretty much my life is fucked up royal, and the sad part is that that's nothing new. But it's happening again.

So, for the time being, just fine. I'm fine. And how's by you?
