Have You Been Double Crossed Today?

William Taylor Jr – The Hunger Season

On September first I’m moving to Oregon. I’m taking this book with me. It’s by William Taylor Jr, and he’s one of our most important poets.

I’m no good at reviews, because it looks like I’m sucking ass, but I would pay to wash William Taylor Junior’s socks.

Get your own here:  The Hunger Season – by William Taylor Jr It’s where I got mine.

See you in Oregon.

I’m coming home, Jenifer.

August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994

Happy Birthday, Bukowski

You spawned a legion of wannabe’s. Most of them really bad.

Including me.

Thanks for making it all look so easy.

Home

As if I were a complete dim-wit, I hadn’t anticipated not being able to present myself to potential landlords in Oregon. What that means is that while living in California, looking for a room in Oregon was futile. When I emailed potential landlords, I got the same response from all of them:

You sound cool. Come by today and have a look at the room.

Well, I can’t exactly come take a look, I live 18 hours away by fast train.

Sorry. I can’t rent to you on that basis. Good luck.

Zoiks! So Jenifer suggested I throw an ad up to the classifieds:

Living out of state – Need room.

I had two replies. I spoke to the woman from the first email. Jenifer went to look at the place for me, and sent back some pictures. As soon as I saw the Christmas lights up in August, I knew I had found the home for me. If you click the picture, it gets bigger.

So. Dr Zen will soon be moving home. And so will I be moving home. Again. I have had so many homes, and most of those homes have been under the stars. The older I get, the more I just want one place to be. A room is fine. In an old house in Oregon where they keep their Christmas lights up year round sounds just beautiful to me.

I’ll be near Jenifer. That’s all that matters to me. And this makes me happy.

New Math

Number of Cigarettes Not Smoked  61335
Total money not spent on smoking 13,033.69

Based on a 2-3 pack a day habit, with 20 to a pack, at approx 4.25 per pack, those are the figures. I quit in 2005 on the 7th of November… give or take. I’ve been quit for approx. 1363 days (today is 1 August 2009).

New-Math

I smoked 45 cigarettes each day (give or take), at a daily cost of 9.56, which works out to a savings of 286.88 per month, and 3,442.50 per year.

Just one question.

Where exactly is that money I’ve saved?
